Tutorials of Sustainable Design of Water Resources Systems - 2019
Sustainable Design of Water Resources System is a subject included in the study plan of the master degree programs in Civil Engineering and Earth Resources Engineering at the University of Bologna. The course will be taught during 48 hours of frontal teaching, including lectures given by the teacher and exercises developed by collaborative work by students and the teacher.
Tutorials of Coastal Engineering - 2019
The course on Coastal Engineering is included in the study plan of the master degree program in Civil Engineering (curriculum Off-shore Engineering) at the University of Bologna. The part of course that I am teaching counts 32 hours of lectures. The teacher will make extensive use of interactivity, with the options illustrated below.

Master degree course on Mountain Rivers Training (2018-2019) (in Italian)
Web site providing information, tutorials and videos for the master degree course on Mountain Rivers Training. The web page is in Italian.
Questa pagina internet mette a disposizione degli studenti le informazioni ed il materiale di supporto per l'insegnamento (1 modulo, 6 crediti formativi universitari) di Costruzioni Idrauliche M indirizzato agli studenti dell'Università di Bologna.
Statistics of the videos of my lectures
In Spring 2012 I took the decision of regularly posting videos of my lectures in my YouTube channel (lectures are collected into playlists). I realized that it is relatively simple to bring in the classroom a camera with a tripod (which I bought myself because the university could not justify such expense), and it is actually straightforward to upload the videos soon after the lecture.

My talk at the Lancaster University: The new mission of geosciences in an age of pandemics and beyond - June 10th, 2020 (with video)
My invited presentation at the Lancaster Environmental Center Seminar Series - Lancaster University, titled "The new mission of geosciences in an age of pandemics and beyond", is available at the link below.
The talk was given remotely on June 10th, 2020. I would like to thank Lancaster University for inviting me. Lancaster University has made available the video of the talk on YouTube.
Thank you for your interest.
All the best,
Alberto
My presentation at the conference EGU2020 Online: Blue Cat, A brisk local uncertainty estimator for hydrologic simulations and predictions
My presentation at the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union titled: A brisk local uncertainty estimator for hydrologic simulations and predictions (Blue Cat) is available for download at the link below.
I would like to thank Demetris for conceiving an amazing idea. It is a simple and computationally efficient tool to estimate the probability distribution of hydrological predictions (and therefore assess their uncertainty) which works really well.
My presentation at the workshop "Management of environmental processes" titled "Floods and climate change" (in Italian)
My presentation at the workshop "Management of environmental processes" titled "Floods and climate change" (in Italian) is available at the link below.
The workshop took place in Naples on February 25th, 2020. The Italian title of the workshop was: "La gestione dei fenomeni naturali: visioni complementari per il territorio. Il contributo della Geologia Applicata e dell’Idraulica" while the Italian title of my presentation was: "Alluvioni: tutta colpa dei cambiamenti climatici?".
Companion scientific papers: Quantification of predictive uncertainty in hydrological modelling by harnessing the wisdom of the crowd
Two companion scientific papers focusing on uncertainty assessment for hydrological models have been just published in Advances in Water Resources:
My presentation (in Italian) on floods in historical cities, at the conference "Beni culturali ed ambientali a rischio" - Ravenna, November 20, 2019

Scientific paper: Probabilistic Hydrological Post-Processing
The scientific paper: Probabilistic Hydrological Post-Processing at Scale: Why and How to Apply Machine-Learning Quantile Regression Algorithms, published on Water, is available open access at the link below.
The study focuses on the use of machine-learning quantile regression algorithms for probabilistic hydrological post-processing in order to derive uncertainty of hydrological simulations.

Scientific paper: "Global-scale human pressure evolution imprints on sustainability of river systems"
The scientific paper "Global-scale human pressure evolution imprints on sustainability of river systems" has been just published by Hydrology and Earth System Sciences.
It is an open access paper proposing an innovative methodology for large scale assessment of human impact on water resources.
Thank you for your attention.

Scientific paper published on Nature: "Changing climate both increases and decreases European river floods"
I had the opportunity to participate, together with Attilio Castellarin and several other researchers, to a study conducted by a team at the Technical University of Wien on trends of floods frequency in Europe.
Data from numerous measurement stations all across Europe have been evaluated. The data shows that magnitude of flood events is changing with different patterns in different regions.
